Oddments Theatre has a mission to share the Christian message in prisons, churches and schools through drama. We tour across the UK bringing thought‑provoking and powerful productions that tell stories of faith. We are looking to fill two major leadership positions in our charity that will take it forward into a new chapter. We are also open to discussions on how these roles could be reimagined as two co‑directors.
Director Role
Our Charity Director will soon be stepping aside to allow someone new to lead Oddments into the future. The right individual will passionately want to see Oddments’ mission continue, and will have the vision and experience to lead the charity forwards. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:
- Managing admin staff and team lead
- Planning and producing shows
- Directing rehearsals (or bringing in an external director)
- Handling finances
- Implementing policy & procedures, such as Health and Safety
- Promoting the charity at Christian conferences
- Communicating with trustees to ensure good governance
- Interviewing and auditioning staff and freelance actors
Additional duties may include touring with the acting team, communicating with supporters and helping to secure bookings. As a charity, roles can be varied and may require a team approach during busy periods.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership skills and experience
- Christian faith in Jesus, willing to share it with others
- Knowledge of theatre with experience in the industry; ability to bring a clear Christian message to audiences (directing experience desirable)
- Competent in basic computer administration and telephone communication
- Ability to handle budgets and finances
- Confident and sociable, gets on well with people
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive company van
- Prioritises safety and safeguarding
- Adaptable to unexpected situations and can learn new skills quickly
- Lives or willing to move close to our base in Yeovil
Team Lead Role
The Team Lead is second‑in‑command to the director, working closely with them to plan and produce productions and recruit actors. They support the administration team, help secure bookings, advertise productions and organise tour schedules. During rehearsal and show periods, the Team Lead bridges the acting team and the director, feeding information both ways. They may be involved in directing, acting and touring themselves, and may take the team on tour with or without the Charity Director.
Requirements:
- Heart for Oddments’ Christian mission
- Experience in leadership and ability to balance multiple projects and tasks
- Hard‑working, confident with new people
- Living or willing to move near to our base in Yeovil
- Full UK driving licence, may need to drive company vehicles including larger ones
