About Choice Textile
Choice Textile is an established recycling and reuse company operating across London, the South-East and Midlands. We manage collections, bulk deliveries, charity partnerships, and commercial recycling through a dedicated fleet and driver team.
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead its operations. The role also involves full responsibility for people management, including recruitment, training, and performance development. You will plan and assign daily duties, coordinate team activities, and take a hands-on approach to warehouse and yard operations. This includes ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide range of products to customers and internal business units, as well as conducting regular performance reviews.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations within a busy recycling/reuse collection business, managing the full process from goods-in to outbound dispatch.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance service quality, operational efficiency, and overall team performance.
- Establish and adapt work procedures to meet changing business demands.
- Provide strong leadership by setting clear expectations and maintaining high standards in performance, health, and safety.
- Carry out administrative duties as required to ensure daily KPIs are achieved.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations, including health and safety standards.
- Train, coach, and monitor staff in standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe working practices, including new starter inductions.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with senior management.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor the receipt, storage, order assembly, and dispatch of goods.
- Optimise the use of warehouse space and mechanical handling equipment, ensuring quality, budgetary, and environmental targets are met.
- Maintain a clear understanding of company policies and objectives, ensuring warehouse operations align with business goals.
- Introduce the use of automated and computerised systems where applicable.
- Manage recruitment, training, and ongoing performance development of warehouse staff.
- Motivate and lead the team to achieve or exceed productivity targets.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene, and security across the site.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in warehouse management.
- Highly organised and flexible, with the ability to meet business demands.
- Strong team player with a confident and proactive approach.
- Proven people management skills, with experience coaching and developing teams.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong leadership and administrative capabilities.
- Solid understanding of HR processes and disciplinary procedures.
- Confident decision-maker, able to handle challenging situations effectively.
