Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HGV & PSV Mechanic / Technician to join our workshop team, responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles (buses/coaches). You will ensure all vehicles are maintained to a high safety and compliance standard, supporting fleet reliability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections & maintenance on HGVs & PSVs
- Diagnose & repair mechanical, electrical & hydraulic faults
- Perform engine, gearbox, braking, suspension & steering repairs
- Complete MOT prep & safety inspections to DVSA standards
- Conduct defect diagnosis, rectification, and road testing
- Maintain workshop documentation & job cards accurately
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and vehicle regulations
- Use diagnostic equipment & keep up to date with technical developments
- Assist roadside breakdowns as required (if applicable)
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience as HGV / PSV Technician / Mechanic
- NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Strong mechanical, electrical & diagnostic skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- HGV Class 1 or 2 licence
- PSV licence (D / D1)
- IRTEC Accreditation / DVSA Inspection Licence
- Air brake, hybrid/electric vehicle & CANbus knowledge
