Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced HGV & PSV Mechanic / Technician to join our workshop team, responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles (buses/coaches). You will ensure all vehicles are maintained to a high safety and compliance standard, supporting fleet reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, inspections & maintenance on HGVs & PSVs
• Diagnose & repair mechanical, electrical & hydraulic faults
• Perform engine, gearbox, braking, suspension & steering repairs
• Complete MOT prep & safety inspections to DVSA standards
• Conduct defect diagnosis, rectification, and road testing
• Maintain workshop documentation & job cards accurately
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and vehicle regulations
• Use diagnostic equipment & keep up to date with technical developments
• Assist roadside breakdowns as required (if applicable)

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Proven experience as HGV / PSV Technician / Mechanic
• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Strong mechanical, electrical & diagnostic skills
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

• HGV Class 1 or 2 licence
• PSV licence (D / D1)
• IRTEC Accreditation / DVSA Inspection Licence
• Air brake, hybrid/electric vehicle & CANbus knowledge
