Premiair Air Conditioning is looking for a motivated 1st Year Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Apprentice to join our Melbourne team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start their career in the HVAC industry and gain hands-on experience working across commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems. We are ideally looking for someone who has completed a relevant pre-apprenticeship and is ready to take the next step into the trade.

About Premiair

Premiair is an established commercial mechanical services contractor providing HVAC, refrigeration and associated maintenance services to a broad range of clients across Melbourne. Our team works across commercial facilities, giving our apprentices exposure to a variety of equipment, sites and practical experience throughout their apprenticeship.

About the Apprenticeship

Working alongside our qualified HVAC technicians, you will learn the skills required to become a qualified Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic. As a first-year apprentice, your work will include:

  • Assisting technicians with servicing and preventative maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment
  • Assisting with fault finding, repairs and breakdowns
  • Learning to diagnose and rectify faults under the guidance of qualified technicians
  • Assisting with the installation of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment
  • Using hand and power tools safely and correctly
  • Learning about different HVAC systems, components and controls
  • Completing service documentation and other job requirements
  • Maintaining a high standard of workplace health and safety
  • Attending TAFE and completing the required coursework throughout your apprenticeship

About You

We aren't expecting you to know everything already. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to build a career in the HVAC trade and is prepared to learn, work hard and be reliable. Ideally, you will have:

  • Completed or be completing a relevant air conditioning, refrigeration or electrotechnology pre-apprenticeship
  • A genuine interest in air conditioning, refrigeration and mechanical systems
  • A practical, hands-on and mechanically minded approach
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Good attention to detail
  • A reliable and punctual approach to work
  • The ability to listen, follow instructions and work well as part of a team
  • A strong attitude towards workplace safety
  • A current driver’s license

Completion of Year 12 is preferred but not essential.
