We are searching for a Geometry Integration Lead Engineer to work within the Vehicle package / Geometric integration department. The team are responsible for the full vehicle geometric integration of the vehicle, whilst balancing system and attribute performance, from concept to end of life, across all vehicle products. This role is to join the existing integration team to assist with all components that are packaged in the Closures and Exteriors groups.
The team's main responsibilities fall into 4 areas:
- Definition and delivery of the Closures and Exteriors group systems and customer features.
- Integrating Systems into the vehicle to deliver systems, hardware and attribute performance.
- Protecting space in the Vehicle for future technology and customer feature content.
- Ensuring all package-owned standards and requirements are adhered to in the architecture.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- To support the existing team that include package zone leaders and group technical leaders.
- Help the team deliver high quality, clash-free / target achieving geometry.
- Integrating with CoCs and attribute engineering teams with a customer-first mindset.
- Develop packaging proposals for delivery of key components and systems.
- Support delivery teams with weight, cost and customer experience optimised packaging proposals.
- Conduct CAD studies to ensure geometric targets and standards are met or exceeded.
- Supporting geometric and system integration through elegant engineering within the Closures and Exteriors zone.
- Support the resolution of cross-functional issues.
- Adopting agile principles to support zone integration sprints.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in product design in at least one functional area.
- Experience with CATIA V6 for detail or packaging design and geometric integration.
- Structured problem-solving approach & issue-management skills.
- Good communication skills: Presentation, written, graphical and verbal.
- Well-rounded knowledge of vehicle types, propulsion systems and subsystems.
- Experience in using benchmarking tools to support idea generation.
- Experience in negotiating solutions in an area of technical conflict.
- The commitment to deliver quality results in a flexible and dynamic team environment.
- A proven ability to work within strict timing constraints.
- The ability to achieve results efficiently, making effective use of all resources available within the company and outside.
Desirable:
- Lead engineer or delivery to launch experience of exterior parts.
- Higher Degree.
- Basic knowledge of client systems such as DOORS/RMDV/RTC/JIRA/SDots/WERS/AIMS.
- Trained/Experienced using AGILE methodology and Agile planning tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience in Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) & Design Review Based on Failure Mode (DRBFM).
- Ability to use CAD viewer tools such as Digi buck / Teamcenter.
- Understanding of project planning and delivery to plan.
- Knowledge of electronic-based parts listing and family trees.
- Working knowledge of Vehicle Packaging roles, Vehicle Engineering and CoC structures and responsibilities.
- Experience in presentation to peers and senior management.
- Experienced Vismockup / Digibuck / 3DX user.
- Experience with CATIA V5.
Education: Higher Degree
This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
