BIW Maintenance Engineer - 34/hr (Inside IR35) - Solihull - 6 Months (potential to extend) Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a dynamic team within the automotive manufacturing sector.
This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment to support vehicle manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical fault-finding, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities Perform planned maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotic systems.
Conduct fault-finding and root cause analysis to implement permanent corrective actions.
Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and contractors to support continuous improvement initiatives and new equipment installations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout processes, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, fault logs, shift handovers, and asset histories using maintenance management systems such as SAP.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and increase production efficiency.
