Overview
We’re seeking a seasoned Game Developer with an instinctive understanding of what makes a compelling social experience. You will be part of the game team and work closely with game design and creative to create and explore new and exciting social game experiences. The experience will feature in-world purchases and social-first mechanics. You’ll be part of the full product cycle from concept to launch with the potential to extend into live-ops.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the team during Discovery to understand what\’s needed, identify potential roadblocks, and suggest ways to avoid them.
- Make sure our technical work is sound, scalable, achievable, and ideally innovative within the project\’s scope.
- Assess the technical feasibility of the game design and art, and help define our technical approach.
- Write efficient, robust, and reusable code that follows commercial standards.
- Keep the team updated on progress, flag any technical risks or blockers, manage technical expectations, and share/ask for help or feedback.
- Create clear documentation on the project so everyone understands the tech, new team members can get onboard easily, and future development is smoother.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience shipping web-based games and interactive development using JavaScript/TypeScript, with proven expertise in game development principles and techniques.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and networking concepts, coupled with experience with web-based game frameworks (e.g. PlayCanvas, Three.js, Babylon.js) and 3D graphics concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments, including task estimation, sprint-based development, and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Passion for working with new, unexplored platforms and technologies, such as immersive tech, and a drive to understand the affordances around them.
- Self-organised, self-motivated and hands-on.
Nice to Have
- Portfolio of game development projects focused on social experiences e.g. Roblox / Minecraft or Fortnite.
- Experience with cross platform development: Mobile / AR / VR
