As part of continued growth, Safran, based in Wolverhampton, is currently recruiting Fitter/Testers to operate within our Assembly & Test module. You will be responsible for evaluating and building units and sub‑assemblies using both mechanical and electrical techniques, working from technical drawings, manufacturing process plans, and production acceptance test schedules. You will carry out testing, final inspections, and fault diagnosis while supporting continuous improvement across the team.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Evaluate and build units/sub‑assemblies to required specifications.
- Adhere to all relevant quality procedures and participate in investigations where necessary.
- Perform testing using the appropriate facilities and record results.
- Complete final inspections on finished units prior to dispatch.
- Carry out any process or function within the Assembly and Test route (training provided as required).
- Assess manufactured features for compliance and raise non‑conformances as required.
- Participate in electronic and/or hydraulic fault finding and diagnosis.
- Support team objectives and continuous improvement activities, including lean events and workshops.
- Operate and maintain stock control systems.
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment as necessary.
Job Requirements
Essential skills:
- Engineering‑biased NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Apprentice trained or time served.
- Experience in the use of mechanical assembly tools such as verniers and micrometres.
Desirable skills:
- Electronics Assembly and Test experience (IPC trained beneficial).
- Knowledge of handling procedures for Electrical Static Devices (ESD).
- Flexible approach with willingness to work as part of a team.
- Calm under pressure and responsive to change.
- Good communication skills and ability to work on own initiative.
- PC literate.
- Demonstrable problem‑solving abilities.
