An innovative, research-led SME (turnover currently approximate £3m) operating at the intersection of science, technology and health is seeking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to join its senior team. This role offers the opportunity to play a central part in shaping the financial controls and processes of a high‑growth organisation at a formative stage of its development. Key Responsibilities As Finance Manager:
  • Preparation of the monthly accounts and responsibility of the month‑end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Deliver accurate and insightful monthly management reporting with variance analysis.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and board reporting.
  • Provide analysis on gross margin, unit economics, ARR and departmental expenditure.
  • Ensure transparent and consistent reporting of COGS and operating expenses.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and treasury management.
  • Oversee payroll processes in collaboration with the outsourced provider.
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and UK tax legislation and liaising with external auditors.
  • Oversee VAT, payroll and statutory filings.
What we are looking for in a Finance Manager:
  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA preferred).
  • Post‑qualification experience within industry at a similar level within a stock‑based business.
  • Demonstrable experience in SMEs and scale‑up environments (essential).
  • Proven capability in managing full month‑end processes and producing management accounts.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK financial and tax regulations.
  • Proficient in Xero and advanced Excel.
