The Stores & Project Materials Controller is responsible for the control, organisation and readiness of all project materials, stock and company tooling to support production and project delivery. The role ensures materials are received, checked, allocated, controlled and prepared in line with project and production requirements while maintaining accurate stock integrity and supporting operational efficiency across the business. The position also carries responsibility for management of the company tool park, including tool tracking, maintenance, certification and inventory optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure project materials are received, checked, allocated and prepared in line with production and delivery requirements.
  • Pick and prepare materials in accordance with Bills of Materials (BOMs), project builds and production schedules.
  • Maintain clear visibility of material readiness across active projects.
  • Identify shortages, damaged goods, incorrect items or late deliveries before they impact production or FAT activities.
  • Maintain accurate project material tracking and stock allocation.

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Monitor daily stock levels of materials, spare parts and consumables.
  • Carry out regular stock counts and cycle checks to maintain stock accuracy.
  • Investigate and report stock discrepancies or shortages.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the warehouse or inventory management system.
  • Ensure materials are stored correctly and warehouse areas remain organised and controlled.

Goods In / Goods Out Control

  • Receive incoming goods and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Identify and report damaged, short or incorrect deliveries immediately.
  • Maintain controlled issue of materials to production and projects.
  • Manage the return, inspection and reallocation of unused project materials back into stores.
  • Ensure stock integrity is always maintained.

Procurement & Delivery Support

  • Monitor inventory levels and identify materials requiring replenishment.
  • Raise purchase requests for low-stock or project-critical materials.
  • Support Procurement through supplier follow-up and delivery tracking where required.
  • Communicate material shortages, delays or risks to the PM and Procurement teams promptly.

Project Material Readiness

  • Maintain visibility of project material readiness using agreed tracking systems.
  • Support the PM and Production teams with clear status reporting of material availability.
  • Assist in preventing production delays through proactive material control and escalation.
  • Support implementation of “The Precision Way” material control processes.

Tool Park Management

  • Maintain service, maintenance and certification records for company tools and equipment.
  • Ensure all tooling remains compliant, safe and within certification requirements.
  • Coordinate servicing, calibration and maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain an up-to-date asset register for all company tools and equipment.
  • Implement and manage tool sign-out and sign-in procedures.
  • Track tool allocation by project, department or user.
  • Improve accountability and reduce loss, duplication and hoarding of tools.
  • Ensure the tool park remains efficient, organised and aligned to operational requirements.
  • Identify underused, obsolete or duplicate tools for reallocation or removal.
  • Support efficient purchasing and control of tooling requirements.

Warehouse, Yard & General Operational Support

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised warehouse and yard environment.
  • Operate waste handling equipment, including the cardboard baler, safely and correctly.
  • Support safe loading, unloading and movement of materials.
  • Carry out occasional driving duties to support urgent operational requirements where required.
