My client is a leading manufacturer within their industry based within commutable distance from Kettering, Burton Latimer, Wellingborough and Thrapston. They are currently looking for an experienced Hands-On Assembly Team Leader to join their team.
The Role - Hands-On Assembly Team Leader
- Lead and support a small team of assembly operatives on a day-to-day basis
- Remain hands‑on and personally carry out fitting, assembly, drilling, cutting, bolting, fabrication and finishing work
- Build playground equipment in the workshop before it goes to site
- Ensure components fit correctly and assemblies are complete and ready for installation
- Read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets, ensuring equipment is assembled to the correct specification
- Carry out quality checks throughout the assembly process
- Ensure fittings, fixings, dimensions and finishes meet the required company standards before equipment leaves the workshop
- Provide guidance, training and support to team members
- Monitor workflow and allocate tasks across the team
- Identify and resolve any production, fitting or assembly issues
- Ensure production targets, quality standards and deadlines are achieved
- Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth production
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Hands-On Assembly Team Leader:
- Previous experience leading or supervising a small team within a manufacturing, engineering or assembly environment
- Strong hands‑on fitting and assembly experience
- Experience with drilling, cutting, bolting, fabrication and finishing
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets
- Good understanding of assembly processes and quality requirements
- Confident working hands‑on while also managing and supporting a team
- Able to check dimensions, fittings, fixings and finishes to ensure work meets specification
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Good problem-solving skills
- Motivated, reliable and an excellent team player
- Good communication and leadership skills
