Our established client designs and manufactures high-performance optical components, from prototype to volume production. They are looking for skilled Maintenance Engineers to help them ensure maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and safety across the manufacturing facility. Commutable from South Leicester, Wigston, Oadby, Blaby, Whetstone and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities - Maintenance Engineer
  • Troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical failures on CNC and other specialist production machinery
  • Optimising preventive maintenance programs
  • Implementing continuous improvement projects
  • Working on pumps, motors, drives, pneumatics and mechanical systems
  • Managing contractors for building upkeep and performing general repairs around the factory and grounds
  • Apply advanced diagnostic techniques and Root Cause Analysis to investigate chronic machine failures
  • Safely utilise PLCs, schematics, and testing equipment to minimise time to repair on critical production assets whilst also showing good levels of craftsmanship and quality in the work that you perform
  • Use breakdown data to understand trends and areas of concern for deeper analysis and implementation of permanent corrective actions through the way of TPM and service plan optimisation
  • Manage equipment service agreements, negotiate critical spare parts procurement, and ensure all on-site vendors strictly adhere to plant safety and compliance regulations
  • Maintenance Engineers are responsible for assisting in the general running of the factory. This will involve physical activities such as transporting parts to various departments within the company. Frequent lifting of weights more than 5 kg may be required, along with working in tight spaces and various heights
Essential Skills & Experience - CNC Maintenance Engineer
  • Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance experience on CNC Mills and/or Lathes
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, vacuum systems and PLC diagnostics
  • Strong Problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Be self-driven to learn new skills and take on responsibilities
  • Electrical fault-finding and basic 3-phase practical work
  • Competent in the use of computer systems, specifically Microsoft Office and CMMS software
Package and Benefits
  • Up to £50k per annum, depending on experience
  • The work hours for this role follow an alternating shift pattern. 1 week of 06:00am – 2:00pm (Friday's 06:00am – 1:00pm), followed by 1 week of 2:00pm - 10:00pm (Friday’s 1:00pm – 9:00pm)
  • Alternating weekend call-out availability will also be required, with standby hours of 08:00am – 4:00pm
