Technical Sales Engineer Engineering Manufacturing Industry Based in Cheddar, Leicester or Warwick Up to £40k per annum Commission, Private Healthcare, Pension

JOB PURPOSE

To organise, motivate and lead a team of sales representatives to ensure that all team members.

The Technical Telesales / Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for managing, generating, developing and converting sales leads & opportunities by combining product knowledge, consultative selling and strong customer relationship management.

The role supports new business development by understanding customer requirements, recommending suitable solutions and managing the sales process through to order placement.

This position is available at Cheddar, Leicester, or Warwick.

The successful candidate will be based at one of these locations; applicants only need to be able to work from their chosen base location.

  • MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Proactively contact new B2B customers via telephone, email and digital channels to identify sales opportunities, while managing and qualifying incoming leads and enquiries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with technical buyers, engineers, purchasing teams and decision-makers to support repeat business, account growth and customer retention.
  • Understand customer requirements, operational challenges and buying motivations to recommend appropriate technical products and solutions.
  • Provide technical advice, explain product features and applications, and respond to customer queries, escalating where necessary.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, proposals and supporting documentation using CRM and internal sales systems.
  • Manage the sales process from initial enquiry through quotation, negotiation and order conversion, following up opportunities to maximise sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within agreed authority levels to secure profitable business.
  • Liaise with technical, engineering, operations and external sales teams to ensure product suitability, availability and effective customer support.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of customer interactions, quotations, opportunities, orders and pipeline activity, monitoring progress against sales targets and KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell, upsell and expand existing customer accounts.
  • Provide ongoing customer support before, during and after the sales process, gathering customer feedback and market insight to support continuous improvement.
  • Represent the business professionally at all times, contributing to a positive customer experience and company reputation.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Proven telesales, customer service or technical sales experience, ideally within a B2B, engineering or mechanical & electrical environment.
  • Strong understanding of technical products and applications, with the ability to quickly learn new product ranges and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Confident communicating with technical buyers, engineers, procurement teams and senior decision-makers, explaining technical information clearly and persuasively.
  • Commercially aware, with experience of pricing, negotiation, sales conversion, solution selling and account development.
  • Highly organised and proficient in using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and digital communication tools to manage enquiries, quotations, sales opportunities and customer records.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven and resilient, with a proactive approach to outbound sales, customer engagement and achieving sales, activity and conversion targets.
  • Professional, customer-focused and collaborative, with the ability to build strong relationships, identify customer needs and work effectively with internal teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
  • Committed to maintaining a healthy sales pipeline, supporting repeat business, account growth, customer satisfaction and overall business profitability.
