The Role
A leading CNC machine tool manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer to support customers across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business investing heavily in its UK operation, including a brand-new UK facility and continued expansion of its engineering team.
You\'ll receive comprehensive factory training and have opportunities to travel internationally, supporting customers across Europe and the USA (If desired).
Working as part of a team of five field engineers, you\'ll carry out installations, servicing, breakdown repairs, and fault-finding on high-quality CNC lathes using FANUC controls.
Ideally, you will be located South of Birmingham with access to both the M1 and M40.
Suitable locations could include Aylesbury, Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Brackley, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Daventry, Rugby, Coventry, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Buckingham and the surrounding areas.
The Role of CNC Field Service Engineer
- Service, maintain and repair CNC machine tools at customer sites across the UK and Ireland.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Diagnose electrical faults including PLC, ladder logic and PMC systems.
- Replace and commission electrical components including switchgear, solenoids and control panel components.
- Carry out panel modifications and minor circuit alterations where required.
- Perform mechanical repairs including bearing replacements, ballscrews, linear rails, alignments, hydraulics, pneumatics and pipework.
- Support customers with machine operation, programming and fault diagnosis.
- Assist with machine installations and commissioning.
- Attend factory training in Spain to develop product knowledge and technical skills.
- Occasionally support projects within Europe and the USA where required.
- To be successful as a CNC Field Service Engineer
- Previous experience servicing, maintaining and repairing CNC machine tools.
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with FANUC CNC controls.
- Experience reading electrical schematics and diagnosing electrical faults.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, ladder logic and PMC diagnostics.
- Mechanical maintenance experience including bearings, ballscrews, rails, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience with machine alignments and precision engineering.
- Knowledge of CNC programming such as FANUC Manual Guide i, Solid CAM or Fusion 360 would be advantageous.
- Experience working with robotic gantry systems would be beneficial.
- A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
