My client is a leading Rotary Equipment company that operates across various industries, providing a range of services. They are now searching for a Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of their machining department, ensuring that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of machinists and operators
  • Assign and explain daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Ensure the cost‑effective use of labor and materials to meet production targets
  • Oversee workflow planning to achieve customer deadlines
  • React quickly to production issues and resolve problems as they arise
  • Maintain discipline, timekeeping, and absence management within the team
  • Provide hands‑on training and support to machinists
  • Read and interpret CAD drawings to select the correct machinery and processes
  • Oversee the operation of CNC machines, lathes, and pillar drills
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings for optimal results
  • Perform quality checks to ensure output meets specifications
  • Maintain records of production, approved units, and defective products
  • Carry out routine maintenance and ensure equipment safety compliance
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency within the workshop

Minimum Skills / Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a machinist, with supervisory or team‑leader experience in a machine shop environment
  • Strong background in manual, semi‑automated, or CNC machining
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics
  • Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, verniers)
  • Understanding of machining ferrous, non‑ferrous, plastic, and copper materials
  • Knowledge of speeds, feeds, and machining best practices
  • Experience repairing journals and shafts
  • Experience with welding or balancing would be advantageous, but not essential
