The predicted salary is between 75600 - 92400 £ per year.

12-month interim contract starting late September / early October. This is a rare interim assignment for someone who likes being close to the engineering and delivery. You will take ownership of a technically complex MW scale electrical power project involving a US customer, a US engineering/integration partner, and the development, build, and test of a new high-value power solution.

You will not be sitting above a large programme structure coordinating workstreams. You will be expected to get into the detail, challenge the engineering, drive the external contractor, make decisions, remove problems, and keep the project moving. You will have real influence over how the programme is structured and delivered, with direct exposure to senior leadership and significant responsibility for the technical, commercial, and delivery outcome.

The assignment:

  • Take the project from an early development stage through key design, build, and test milestones.
  • Challenge and sign off MW-scale electrical engineering designs.
  • Drive a US engineering/integration contractor through design, build, and test.
  • Establish the delivery plan, critical milestones, suppliers, and technical risks.
  • Work within US regulatory frameworks and engineering practices.
  • Own programme cost, procurement, budget, forecast, and risk.
  • Resolve technical and delivery issues quickly and pragmatically.
  • Provide clear, concise updates to senior leadership.
  • Spend meaningful time in the US when the project requires.

The background we need:

We are not looking for someone whose experience is primarily programme governance, PMO, stakeholder management, or managing large layers of project managers. We need someone who has personally:

  • Led and technically signed off complex MW-scale electrical power systems.
  • Managed an external engineering/integration contractor in the US from concept through design, build, test, and final delivery, with an understanding of the relevant US regulatory framework.
  • Taken control of complex engineering projects at an early stage and quickly established the design, suppliers, risks, and practical delivery plan.
  • Personally owned budget, programme, procurement, cost, risk, and the key project numbers.
  • Operated autonomously on demanding technical programmes, driving engineers, suppliers, and contractors while keeping senior leadership clear on progress and risk.

Please note: You will need to be available to start late September / early October 2026 and able to undertake regular travel to the US. This is inside of IR35.
