Forensic Engineer - Failure Investigation

Location: Bristol / South West - HYBRID

What You’ll Do:

As a Forensic Engineering Consultant, you’ll delve deep into the causes behind some of the most fascinating and high-profile incidents, from boiler fires to mechanical and electrical incidents. This is a career where every case is different and every investigation demands a fresh, scientific approach.


You’ll be:

  • Visiting incident sites across the south west to assess damage and gather critical evidence
  • Conducting on-site information, capturing detailed documentation, and observing physical samples
  • Performing hands-on dismantling of machinery and equipment to trace the origin of failures
  • Collaborating with labs and external partners to run tests and simulations
  • Turning complex data and physical findings into compelling, concise reports for clients


What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong honours degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemistry or a related discipline
  • On the path to, or already holding, Chartered status in your field
  • Ideally a postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD) in a relevant scientific area
  • Excellent communication skills, you can explain technical findings to both experts and laypeople alike
  • A flexible mindset - ready to take on unexpected challenges and fieldwork when needed
  • A few solid years of hands-on, post-degree experience under your belt
