WE ARE HIRING : ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST – ADHD AND AUTISM

Precision Neuro Clinic is seeking an experienced and compassionate Associate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our developing neurodevelopmental service.

Precision Neuro Clinic is an independent neurodevelopmental clinic providing comprehensive ADHD, autism and combined ADHD and autism assessments for adults, children and young people.

Our service is led by Debbie Ferreira, Clinical Neurodevelopmental Specialist and Independent Prescriber, who has 20 years of experience across mental health and neurodevelopmental services.

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with specialist knowledge of ADHD, autism and associated mental-health conditions.

The successful applicant will provide consultant-level psychiatric expertise, support multidisciplinary decision-making and contribute to the clinic’s clinical-governance framework.

THE ROLE

As an Associate Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work collaboratively with the Clinical Director and wider multidisciplinary team.

The role will include specialist case review, assessment, diagnostic input and clinical-governance support.

There will also be an opportunity to contribute to the future development of the clinic’s ADHD treatment and medication pathway, subject to regulatory approval and the clinician’s competence and agreed scope of practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake specialist psychiatric and neurodevelopmental assessments where agreed.
  • Review complex ADHD, autism and combined ADHD and autism cases.
  • Assess differential diagnoses, psychiatric comorbidities, clinical risk and treatment suitability.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic discussions and decisions.
  • Provide consultant-level medical input where diagnostic uncertainty or significant mental-health comorbidity is present.
  • Review clinical reports and provide specialist recommendations when required.
  • Support safe inclusion, exclusion, referral and escalation pathways.
  • Contribute to the development and review of clinical policies, procedures and assessment pathways.
  • Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, safeguarding discussions and quality-improvement activities.
  • Support effective clinical governance, risk management and incident-learning processes.
  • Communicate appropriately with patients, families, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide specialist advice or supervision to other clinicians where agreed.
  • Contribute to the future development and governance of ADHD medication pathways, subject to the clinic obtaining the required regulatory approval.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a current licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in a relevant psychiatry specialty.
  • CCT or a recognised equivalent specialist qualification.
  • Consultant-level experience in psychiatry.
  • Demonstrable experience in ADHD and/or autism assessment and differential diagnosis.
  • Experience identifying and managing psychiatric comorbidities and clinical risk.
  • Current appraisal, revalidation and responsible-officer arrangements.
  • Appropriate medical indemnity covering independent private practice and remote consultations.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate appropriate to the relevant patient population.
  • Current safeguarding training.
  • Excellent clinical documentation and professional communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and primarily remote service.
  • A commitment to safe, evidence-based, person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Applicants working with children and young people should have appropriate Child and Adolescent Psychiatry qualifications, competence and experience.

Applicants working with adults should have relevant adult psychiatry expertise and experience in neurodevelopmental conditions.

  • Experience assessing both ADHD and autism.
  • Experience working within an independent neurodevelopmental service.
  • Experience in clinical governance, medical leadership or service development.
  • Experience supporting ADHD prescribing and medication-monitoring pathways.
  • Experience working within a CQC-regulated service.
  • Recognition with Bupa or another major private medical insurer.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to other healthcare professionals.
  • Availability for occasional face-to-face appointments in Chichester.
