The Business Development Manager (BDM), Airbus & UK/EU is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic growth opportunities within the aerospace and defense markets in the UK and EU. This role focuses on expanding the company’s customer base, capturing new programs, and strengthening relationships with Airbus & other OEMs, Tier 1/2 suppliers, government agencies, and key industry partners.
The position leads market analysis, customer engagement, and proposal development efforts to drive revenue growth and long-term contracts. Working cross-functionally with engineering, account management, operations, and supply chain teams, the BDM ensures customer requirements are translated into competitive, compliant, and executable solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of aerospace products, manufacturing processes, regulatory environments, and contract structures, along with the ability to influence stakeholders and negotiate complex agreements.
Success in this position is measured by pipeline growth, contract wins, customer satisfaction, and alignment of business development strategies with corporate objectives.

The BDM will be assigned primary responsibility with developing and managing our business with Airbus and across the UK/EU Market. It is the sole responsibility of the BDM to manage, support, service and coordinate all customer-related activity and the interaction of FTI Inside Sales & Engineering staff with their customer base for positive results.
The BDM will make regular field sales calls to customers within their area of responsibility. Travel may also be required outside of their region in support of their specific programs or other programs, as requested by Management.
Customer Service:FTI BDMs are expected to act in a professional manner when interacting with customers within their assigned region. Their duties shall include presenting FTI products, technical data, policy, procedures, and the subsequent transfer of information from the customer to FTI and vice versa. It is the responsibility of the BDM to construct and implement proposals and presentations focused on the specific needs of their customers. These proposals will be coordinated with the FTI team for review prior to presenting them to our customers.
Program Management:The BDM is required to manage each of their own projects within their customer base. Project management includes, but is not limited to, overseeing the project as a leader, strategic planning, coordination of events, delegation, and dissemination of information in written & verbal, ensuring the project progresses within specified time frames and achieves a successful outcome.
Product Knowledge:The BDM shall be trained and have a complete understanding of all FTI products, processes and the Materials Test Lab. The BDMs’ knowledge is expected to be at a sufficient level to achieve customer service objectives. A complete understanding of all FTI process specifications is required and they are required to be able to train and certify personnel on all cold expansion processes.
Documentation:The BDM shall properly document all activities within their specified geographic region and/or market. This documentation shall be in the form of contact reports, e-mail, FTI travel calendar, project folders and mid-year and year-end reporting requirements.
Positive Team Attitude:Each BDM shall possess a positive and constructive attitude towards the company and their fellow co-workers.
Policy:All FTI employees are bound to follow all existing and future policies as Management may identify them and other duties as determined by their supervisor.
Minimum Education or Experience- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering.
- 10 years’ experience in aviation industry.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
- Strong computer skills, experience in MS Office, specifically the ability to analyze and interpret data for business decision making.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Problem solving skills.
