Senior Full-Stack Engineer
Legal Innovation & AI | London | Hybrid
We’re building something different. While many innovation teams in law firms focus purely on off-the-shelf tools, this team is actively designing, customising, and building new solutions from the ground up. The aim? To embed technology deeper into the firm, move faster, and deliver smarter tools for lawyers and clients.
This is a senior role within a growing Legal Innovation function that works at startup speed - but with the backing, support, and visibility of a top-tier firm.
The Role
You’ll join a small but ambitious development team, mentoring two junior engineers and helping shape the technical direction of the function. This is not a ticket-driven development role. You’ll:
- Build and customise applications using JavaScript (Node.js, React, TypeScript)
- Develop integrations and APIs across third-party SaaS platforms
- Embed solutions into the Microsoft ecosystem (SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure)
- Help define development standards and best practices
- Work closely with IT to align source control, DevOps, and cloud deployment
- Contribute to AI-driven initiatives and emerging legal technologies
- Engage directly with lawyers and business stakeholders to turn ideas into working solutions
The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and genuinely innovation-led.
What You’ll Need
- Strong experience as a Full-Stack Developer (JavaScript-first)
- Solid hands-on expertise in Node.js and React
- Experience working with APIs and system integrations
- Exposure to cloud environments (Azure preferred)
- Comfortable working across both Back End logic and Front End interfaces
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior developers
- Strong communication skills - able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- C#/.NET exposure (desirable, not essential)
- Experience working with Microsoft platforms (SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure)
- Exposure to AI platforms (eg, OpenAI, Azure AI, Harvey, etc.)
- Experience within legal, professional services, or regulated environments
- Knowledge of systems such as Aderant, Intapp, iManage
