Systems Data Analyst – SQL / NoSQL / Data Migration

We are recruiting an experienced Systems Data Analyst to support a major application modernisation and data transformation programme within a leading international professional services organisation.
/n
This is a highly technical analysis role focused on understanding and documenting the databases behind a complex legacy business application. You will work with Developers, Architects and business specialists to establish how the existing system operates and support its migration into modern cloud and document-based database technologies.
/n
Key responsibilities
/n
/n
- Analyse legacy applications, databases and source systems.
/n
- Reverse-engineer database structures where documentation is limited.
/n
- Document schemas, tables, columns, relationships, indexes and constraints.
/n
- Identify business rules, data flows, dependencies and integration points.
/n
- Produce detailed source-to-target data mappings.
/n
- Define data transformation and migration requirements.
/n
- Work closely with Developers, Solution Architects, Data Architects and business SMEs.
/n
- Support data quality, governance and application-modernisation objectives.
/n
/n
Essential experience
/n
/n
- Strong hands-on SQL and relational database experience.
/n
- Previous database reverse-engineering or legacy system analysis.
/n
- Detailed schema and technical database documentation.
/n
- Source-to-target mapping and data migration experience.
/n
- Experience migrating relational SQL databases into a document-oriented NoSQL platform such as Cosmos DB, MongoDB, DynamoDB or Couchbase.
/n
- Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT and transformation methodologies.
/n
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud data services.
/n
- Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
/n
/n
Previous experience as a Database Analyst, Data Migration Analyst, Data Modeller, Technical Data Analyst or Database Administrator would be particularly relevant.
/n
Please note: this is not a conventional Power BI or reporting-focused Data Analyst position. Applicants must have technical database analysis and relational-to-NoSQL migration experience.
