Ready to take the next step in your warehouse career? We're looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Warehouse Team Leader to help drive the day-to-day operation of our busy warehouse facility in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional who enjoys leading by example, supporting colleagues, and making sure operations run smoothly.

You'll work closely with the Warehouse Team Leader, helping coordinate workloads, maintain high standards, and ensure the team delivers excellent results every day.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Assistant Warehouse Team Leader, you'll play a key role in keeping warehouse operations efficient, organised, and safe. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the daily running of goods-in, storage, picking, packing and dispatch operations
  • Assisting with workload planning and team coordination
  • Coaching, supporting and guiding warehouse operatives
  • Acting as a key point of contact for operational queries and escalations
  • Supporting stock control, cycle counts and discrepancy investigations
  • Maintaining high standards of accuracy, organisation and housekeeping
  • Ensuring safe working practices and Health & Safety compliance
  • Supporting onboarding and training of new team members
  • Providing hands-on operational support wherever needed
  • Stepping into a supervisory role when the Warehouse Team Leader is absent

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of goods-in, picking, dispatch and stock control processes
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamworking abilities
  • Ability to support, motivate and guide colleagues
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and warehouse systems
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Understanding of warehouse Health & Safety requirements

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Experience using WMS or ERP systems
  • Understanding of KPI-driven warehouse environments
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
