The Mechanical Project Manager at PREAH Building Services plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of mechanical installation projects across commercial environments. Operating between our Newhouse office and various project sites, this position ensures the effective delivery of mechanical systems from initiation to completion. The Project Manager leads site teams, coordinates with internal departments and external stakeholders, and upholds quality, safety, and budgetary standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of mechanical installation projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, plantrooms, heating and pipework systems, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of onsite mechanical staff, subcontractors, and supervisory teams.
- Monitor compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Attend and manage project meetings, both onsite and offsite, representing the mechanical delivery function.
- Authorise and verify weekly engineer timesheets and labour records.
- Oversee material deliveries and match stock items to site requirements and delivery notes.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identify and resolve any on-site challenges proactively in collaboration with supervisors and foremen.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are maintained at all times on project sites.
- Liaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure project expectations are clearly defined and met.
- Provide technical guidance and support across project stages to site teams and junior personnel.
- Deliver progress updates, status reports, and risk assessments to senior management and clients.
- Maintain up-to-date site documentation including project schedules, variation orders, quality assurance records, and sign-off sheets.
- Support commercial teams with input for variations, valuations, and final account reconciliation.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical project management within the building services or commercial construction sector.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Proficiency in project management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and understanding of site logistics.
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline (HNC, HND, degree or equivalent).
Working Conditions
This is a hybrid role, combining office-based responsibilities with regular site visits across active construction projects. The Mechanical Project Manager must be adaptable to varied work environments and capable of travelling between project sites as needed. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines or client expectations.
