This role requires a strategic, commercially astute security leader who can operate confidently across corporate environments, busy public spaces, and dynamic nightlife settings. You will provide both strategic oversight and operational leadership, ensuring the estate remains safe, resilient, and welcoming for occupiers, visitors, and the wider public. The Role

  • Develop and lead the Brindleyplace security strategy, translating priorities into operational excellence.
  • Lead a professional 24/7 security function across a diverse estate environment.
  • Manage evolving risks including terrorism, serious crime, protest activity, anti‑social behaviour, and public safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025.

  • Build strong relationships with West Midlands Police, Birmingham City Council, and counter‑terrorism advisors.
  • Manage performance of in‑house security teams and suppliers to ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and continuous improvement within the security team.
  • Manage the security budget and contribute to service charge planning and reporting.

About You

  • You are a credible, visible and values‑led leader with gravitas and commercial awareness.
  • You will bring significant senior security leadership experience within property, FM, or complex operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of city‑centre asset protection across office, retail, and public realm in a Senior Security remit.
  • Demonstrable experience managing large‑scale estates and security compliance frameworks (including ACS accreditation).
  • Deep understanding of current security legislation and risk management, including Martyn’s Law and the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025.
  • Extensive and demonstrable crisis management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at senior level with a track record in developing, motivating and increasing standards across the team.
  • A credible and respected leader who demonstrates gravitas and collaboration with regards to stakeholder management.
  • A strategic mindset, coupled with operational rigour to develop and enhance the security function across the estate.
  • Up‑to‑date understanding of security technologies, cyber‑physical convergence, and risk management techniques.
  • A recognised security management qualification (Level 5+, CSMP, CPP or equivalent).
  • SIA Licence (CCTV & Guarding).
  • Leadership/Management degree or higher education qualification.
  • Military or senior law enforcement experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
