Axis Logistics is a member of the Prax Group providing streamlined road tanker logistics operations and supplying premium fuel to our many customers across the UK. Based at our Kingsbury site, with regular weekly travel to Thurrock, we are seeking an experienced Transport Manager, reporting to our Operations and Fleet Manager to ensure legal compliance and safety of all of our vehicles and drivers. This is a full-time permanent position which offers an excellent salary, company car/car allowance, company benefits and career progression opportunities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Ensuring legal compliance and safety of all drivers and vehicles
- Managing HR processes including sickness and absence, grievance and disciplinary procedures
- Conducting thorough and accurate incident investigations
- Liaison with unions
- Implement measures to ensure that systems of work are being adhered to
- Conduct toolbox talks/Training/driver engagement at all locations
- Recruitment and selection of drivers and Traffic office team
- Managing the Service, Inspection, and repair of the fleet
- Driver Performance management
- Managing the driver rota and holiday planning
- Manage the production/compilation of risk assessments for delivery sites
- Providing general leadership and direction to the transport team
- Feeding back performance
- Conduct monthly depot audits
- Lead by example and promote a safe, compliant working environment
- Communicate effectively with other stakeholders
- Good geographical knowledge
- Continuous improvement, identify opportunities for process improvement and implement change to streamline the operation and applying corrective measures
- Management of all aspects of driver training, assessment, and qualification
Personal Specification
- In depth experience in all aspects of road transport and, ideally, experience in fuel distribution
- Strong leadership skills
- Financial management experience
- National or International CPC
- Experienced with working in a highly unionised environment with strong administrative and communication skills
