The OMNIA Security Architect role is a mission‑driven position focused on designing, delivering, and transforming collective training to support the British Army’s training system. You will work in a matrixed organisation, reporting operationally through OMNIA Training Support Branch and functionally through the Raytheon UK Engineering Management team’s Systems Security Engineering Group. The role requires a versatile individual who can operate independently and lead from the front to deliver the Collective Training Transformation Programme (CTTP).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and communicate the security vision, architecture specifications, analysis, threat‑modelling, security requirements, standards, design patterns, reference architectures, and roadmaps.
- Apply security‑design principles to produce secure architectures.
- Lead security interactions with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide security assurance for systems.
- Drive the strategic direction of security projects to enable the information‑security strategy.
- Capture, expand, and analyse security requirements.
- Develop innovative security solutions to support the long‑term security architecture.
- Evaluate and validate security technologies through proof‑of‑concepts.
- Build cross‑organisational relationships and influence the architecture team.
- Support the security technology lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other architects to embed security in technology‑domain architectures.
- Assist with peer reviews and security risk assessments during application and system lifecycle management.
- Stay abreast of security technologies and recommend their use based on business value and risk mitigation.
- Advise senior leadership on cybersecurity issues, systems, processes, products, and services.
- Maintain oversight of system design and implementation to ensure effective security controls.
- Serve as a cybersecurity expert in defining overall system architecture.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Self‑starter capable of prioritising and planning complex work in changing environments.
- Experience engaging customers, both internal and external.
- Strong critical thinker with problem‑solving aptitude.
- Highly organised, outcome‑focussed, with a “can‑do” attitude.
- Excellent communication of complex security problems to senior stakeholders.
- Experience with enterprise‑architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or MODAF.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- Experience in deconstructing security requirements.
- Understanding of secure‑by‑design principles.
- Familiarity with waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Awareness of obsolescence impacts on information assurance.
- Experience or knowledge of cloud hosting and major cloud providers.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps tooling and processes.
- Working knowledge of MoD or government IT security environments at classified levels including SECRET and above.
- Proven experience leading a small team.
- Willingness to travel.
- Security clearance above BPSS or ability to obtain one.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- BSc in Information Security or equivalent commercial programme security experience.
- Professional security certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGRC.
- Knowledge of Government Standard 007: Security, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Experience with supply‑chain security management.
- ITIL or problem management experience.
- Familiarity with GEOINT, SIGINT, ACINT, MASINT, OSINT, HUMINT and related analysis.
