Position: Senior Platform Engineer – Manchester, Lancashire – Permanent, full time (Hybrid, minimum 3 days on site)

Role & Responsibilities

Work as a Senior Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on-premises environments for our many business areas. Willing and eligible to hold SC and eDV clearance.

  • Build and set up development tools and infrastructure
  • Understand the needs of project stakeholders
  • Automate and improve development and release processes
  • Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats
  • Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions
  • Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model
  • Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)
  • Infrastructure as code e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.
  • Experience in building and deploying large‑scale applications in Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines; container platform and orchestration systems (ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/helm/Docker)
  • Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins, ConcourseCI or cloud equivalents
  • Experience in scripting languages and source control

Work Culture

37‑hour working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site‑specific arrangements. Remote, hybrid and site‑based working opportunities, dependent on your needs and the requirements of the role. Up to 5 paid days volunteering each year.
