Job Overview
Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer – Onsite – Permanent – Full Time (37 hours per week). Location: Livingston, West Lothian (with some travel to Glenrothes). Baseline security clearance required; candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Own and manage process and equipment across the Product Value Stream, ensuring Design for Excellence (DfX) analysis and collaboration with design teams.
- Identify, expedite, and, if necessary, escalates quality or performance issues.
- Achieve on‑time delivery targets.
- Use manufacturing data and analysis techniques to proactively identify and address issues, drive root‑cause/corrective action reports and maintain process/equipment engineering metrics.
- Track performance and yields against team KPIs and individual goals.
- Drive continuous improvements through Best in Class and World Class Manufacturing principles.
Qualifications
- High‑performance engineer and self‑starter.
- Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes across a wide range of technologies and platforms (CCA, HLA, etc.).
- Experience working in high‑reliability electronic assembly environments (defence, medical, aerospace); commercial electronics experience is also encouraged.
- Demonstrated contribution to specific improvements in production programme effectiveness, efficiency and optimisation.
- Lead or participate in process FMEA, control plan, process flow development, review and risk‑mitigation processes.
- Experience with SPC, OEE, ESD, COSHH and risk assessment.
- Understanding of Six Sigma (or equivalent) and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge and experience with ERP and MES systems.
- Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 guidelines (including recent revisions).
- Minimum HNC in an electronics‑related subject (HND or degree preferred); relevant industry experience is also considered.
- Desirable but not essential: experience supporting processes such as stencil design, screen printing, jet dispensing, SPI, SMT placement, reflow oven profiling, AOI, AXI, MXI, PTH, selective/wave solder, wet processes, underfill, and rework processes.
