Location: Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire | Company: Collins Aerospace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out First Article Mechanical Inspections of aerospace component parts and sub-assemblies to the AS9102 standard.
  • Finalize First Article Inspection Reports, recording the data on MRP computer system.
  • Develop and maintain electronic file system.
  • Manage and control equipment calibration.
  • Support business processes and personnel in continuous improvement activities, providing information concerning product and process quality performance.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve customer issues, promoting confidence and satisfaction.
  • Support the New Product Introduction process through quality planning and implementation, liaising with internal functions and suppliers.
  • Ensure all quality data is captured and analysed against targets, taking action on adverse variation to standard.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong quality and/or aerospace background in medium to high volume manufacturing.
  • Competent in handheld measuring tools (vernier calipers, height gauge, micrometers) and interpretation of engineering drawings including geometrical tolerances.
  • Understanding of AS9102.
  • Experience with MRP systems.
  • IT literacy – proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), effective at all levels.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Continuous Improvement/5S mindset.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing – minimum 2 years in a machine shop.
  • Continuous Improvement and LEAN Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with MCOSMOS and CMM tools (desired).
  • Ability to facilitate AS9102 standards.
