What You Will Do
As a key member of the HR team, you will help create a positive employee experience by providing practical, business-focused HR support.
You'll partner with managers to navigate people challenges, strengthen employee relations, support organisational change and drive people initiatives that enable business success.
This role offers the opportunity to develop broad HR expertise while building the experience working with the business.
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded HR Advisor to provide high-quality, generalist HR support to a designated function.
This is a varied generalist role working closely with a HR Partner and business managers.
You will act as a trusted advisor, delivering practical people solutions that support business performance, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.
This role combines hands-on operational HR support with opportunities to contribute to wider people initiatives.
You will play a key role in fostering positive employee relations, coaching managers, ensuring policy compliance and supporting organisational change within a complex and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with a HR Partner to deliver the people strategy for a business area, providing operational HR support, identifying people risks and opportunities, and ensuring consistent delivery of people initiatives aligned to business objectives
- Coach and support managers to build high-performing, engaged teams and foster a positive working environment
- Manage and lead a varied caseload of employee relations matters independently, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, flexible working and performance management cases
- Working with the ER Partner for case escalation
- Support managers in addressing workplace concerns, conflict resolution and employee engagement challenges
- Build strong relationships with managers and stakeholders, becoming a trusted partner on people-related matters
- Support workforce planning activities including recruitment, organisational design, workforce balancing and succession planning
- Contribute to talent development, career progression and employee retention initiatives including reward and recognition
- Support organisational change activity, including restructures, consultations and TUPE
- Use insights to identify risks and recommend practical solutions to improve business outcomes
- Support employee engagement initiatives, surveys and action planning activity
- Contribute to HR projects, process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with HR Centres of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Shared Services, Reward and Payroll, to deliver an integrated people service

- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or HR Generalist role
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience independently managing employee relations cases
- Strong coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build credible relationships with managers at all levels
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience interpreting data and translating insights into practical recommendations
- Experience supporting organisational change, TUPE and restructuring activity
- Experience working in a matrixed organisation
- Knowledge of unionised or security-cleared environments
