Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and strategic Senior Procurement Manager to lead a Commodities and Sourcing team and drive sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management activities across key spend categories. The Senior Manager Commodities & Sourcing will lead a team of Commodity Managers across multiple Business Areas and programmes. The role reports to the Associate Director of Supply Chain and requires the ability to communicate at senior levels within the business and partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams including Finance, Contracts, Quality, Manufacturing, Programmes and Legal in support of sourcing strategies and initiatives. The role is pivotal in delivering cost-effective and resilient supply solutions that contribute to business goals and may include development opportunities by deputising for the Associate Director of Supply Chain at Senior/Director level reviews.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong background in Supply Chain, Procurement, Subcontract or Commodity Management within complex manufacturing environments
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, driving performance, on-time delivery, and cost efficiencies
- Demonstrated success delivering strategic sourcing outcomes across aerospace and/or defence (UK MoD / US DoD) sectors
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, including supplier performance and dispute resolution
- Solid commercial acumen, with knowledge of US DoD contracting and global supply markets
- Experience implementing strategy, policy, and operational plans aligned to business goals
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities in matrixed, fast-paced environments
- Knowledge of import/export regulations (ITAR, EAR, UK Export Control)
- Programme management expertise across full lifecycle delivery (proposal through to sustainment)
- Experience in data analytics, supply chain metrics, and KPI management
Desirable Skills
- Experience collaborating across cross-functional and multi-business teams on high-profile projects
- Exposure to supply chain digital transformation, automation, and technology initiatives
- Ability to develop operational plans, processes, and standards aligned to strategic goals
- Relevant professional or academic qualifications (e.g. MCIPS, BA, MBA or equivalent)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team, setting clear goals and developing talent to deliver against business and functional targets
- Develop and execute innovative strategic sourcing plans, driving synergy savings across the wider organisation
- Own and optimise short- and long-term commodity strategies, ensuring alignment and maximum value across teams
- Build a resilient and agile supply chain, capable of navigating geopolitical and supplier disruptions
- Lead critical supplier negotiations and act as the escalation point for complex commercial and contractual challenges
- Leverage commercial agreements and contract expertise to deliver measurable business value
- Foster strong cross-functional partnerships, influencing stakeholders to achieve operational excellence
- Develop long-term strategic supplier relationships that enhance performance and deliver competitive advantage
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and supplier performance improvements to meet financial targets
- Champion continuous improvement and transformation, including adoption of emerging technologies
- Ensure full compliance with export, ethics, and corporate policies while supporting key business initiatives
