With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world. Collins Aerospace is a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions that help redefine the aerospace and defence industry. With a comprehensive portfolio and deep technical expertise, we help customers meet the demands of the global market. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defence. Are you motivated to lead engineering teams building the technologies that are transforming how passengers move through airports? The Airports business, part of Connected Aviation inside Collins Aerospace, delivers end-to-end airport solutions from passenger check-in and biometric identity systems to baggage management, aircraft resource allocation, and terminal optimisation for more than 170 airports around the globe. As the Senior Engineering Manager for Passenger Verification, you will lead the engineering organisation responsible for SelfPass and VeriPax, helping advance the next generation of passenger identity and verification solutions used throughout the airport journey. Our engineering teams build complex, integrated systems that operate across airport, airline, and cloud environments where reliability, security, performance, and quality are critical. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary development team responsible for delivering and maintaining passenger verification products while continuing the advancement of SelfPass, supporting industry initiatives such as IATA One ID, and driving the continued modernisation of VeriPax.
What you will do:
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning software development, QA/SDET, technical program management, and cloud systems engineering responsible for SelfPass and VeriPax. Drive predictable execution against product roadmaps and engineering commitments through disciplined planning, credible estimation, capacity management, dependency management, and early identification of delivery risks. Own engineering execution across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements refinement, technical design, development, integration, verification and validation, release, and lifecycle maintenance. Establish a strong culture of software quality where development and test engineering share accountability for preventing defects, improving automated test coverage, and delivering production-ready releases. Lead product-level technical design and implementation decisions for SelfPass and VeriPax while partnering with the Airports Architecture organisation on broader architecture strategy, platform standards, and cross-product technical direction. Partner closely with Product Management to translate product roadmaps and customer needs into executable engineering plans, balancing scope, schedule, capacity, technical risk, and quality. Continuously improve Agile engineering practices, including backlog readiness, planning, estimation, sprint execution, reviews, retrospectives, and Definition of Done, using measurable outcomes to improve team effectiveness. Establish and use meaningful engineering metrics to understand delivery predictability, quality, development effectiveness, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Proactively manage technical debt and modernisation priorities alongside new feature development, ensuring near-term commitments are balanced with the long-term health and maintainability of the products. Advance the continued development of SelfPass and passenger identity capabilities, including support for evolving industry initiatives such as IATA One ID. Lead the continued modernisation of VeriPax, improving maintainability, scalability, deployment practices, and alignment with the broader technical direction of the Airports portfolio. Strengthen collaboration across Airports engineering teams, promoting reuse of technical capabilities, sharing product and domain expertise, and identifying opportunities to solve common engineering challenges across products. Own and continuously improve application CI/CD and software delivery practices while partnering with Cloud and Platform teams responsible for the underlying infrastructure. Embed secure software development practices throughout the engineering lifecycle and partner with Product Cyber teams to address vulnerabilities, security requirements, privacy considerations, and applicable compliance obligations. Lead engineering capacity and resource planning, including headcount, contractors, development budgets, and vendor relationships, and provide technical input into build, buy, or partner decisions. Support customer engagements, technical escalations, bids, deployments, and major production issues when engineering leadership is required. Coach and develop individual contributors, establish clear expectations and accountability, recognise strong performance, and create opportunities for technical and professional growth.
What you will learn:
How biometric identity and passenger verification technologies are used across the airport journey, including check-in, bag drop, security, and boarding. How evolving industry initiatives such as IATA One ID are shaping the future of digital identity and seamless passenger processing. How passenger verification solutions integrate with complex airport, airline, and third-party systems across global operating environments. How modern cloud and container-based applications are developed and deployed within mission-critical aviation environments.
