Raytheon UK is searching for a SAFe Product Owner to join our OMNIA® Training team. As SAFe Product Owner, you will be critical to the successful delivery of the programme, collaborating within a matrix organisation, across multi-disciplinary teams. This position requires a customer first mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering team in a complex and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Product Owner, representing stakeholder and user requirements within the development team.
  • Own and manage the team backlog, ensuring user stories are clearly defined, prioritised, and aligned with programme objectives.
  • Translate high-level features and capabilities into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with Product Management and system architects to maintain and ensure alignment between product vision, architecture, and delivery priorities.
  • Lead in SAFe ceremonies including Program Increment (PI) planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure features and user stories are understood and delivered according to acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritise backlog items based on business value, operational needs, and programme objectives.
  • Validate completed work through story acceptance, ensuring delivered functionality meets requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders and end users to gather feedback and refine product requirements.
  • Deliver and coach the engineering team in SAFe principles and practices to recognise value early and increase delivery performance.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Product Owner or similar role within Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development principles and practices within the SAFe framework.
  • Experience managing product backlogs and translating business or operational requirements into user stories.
  • Experience working closely with software development or engineering teams to deliver digital or technical products.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to represent business needs to technical teams.
  • Experience leading and participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and PI planning.
  • Ability to define clear acceptance criteria and validate completed work against requirements.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills within fast-paced delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and train a multi-skilled engineering team in SAFe principles and practices.
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification or equivalent Agile experience.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience delivering products within complex enterprise or defence programmes.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms, digital services, or modern software architectures.
  • Experience working with DevSecOps or CI/CD delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting modelling and simulation platforms or training systems.
  • Familiarity with product management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar backlog management platforms.
  • Experience working within scaled Agile environments involving multiple teams or ARTs.
  • Understanding of user-centred design and product discovery practices.
  • Experience contributing to product roadmaps and capability planning.
  • Relevant certifications in Agile, SAFe, or product management.
