We are seeking 3 Quality Inspectors to join the team.
Role Overview:
The successful candidates will work on ensuring high standards of product quality throughout the production process by ensuring the required inspection is conducted, defects are identified, and the appropriate recording and communication is completed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Inspection & Calibration
Online Parts Inspection. Check the quality of parts on line where requested.
Inwards Part Inspection. Ensure all parts are accompanied by the appropriate paperwork (Certificate of Conformance, Materials Certification, Drawings, First Article Report) and meet the required standard.
End of line product Inspection. Conduct a thorough inspection of each end product, ensuring that all nuts/bolts are tight, all parts are in good working order, the seat is within the specified weight and has no cosmetic defects.
Decide if product conforms and take appropriate action
Follow correct procedure for performing inspections (as per Working Instructions).
Effectively use a range of hand tools to conduct the necessary inspections.
Conduct production line audits to ensure quality tools/equipment adhered to calibration and are fit for use on the shop floor.
2. Defect Detection, Correction & Prevention
Identify, record and communicate faults/defects, ensuring the appropriate action is taken.
Inform Master Assemblers of any inconsistencies in paperwork or faults that can be rectified online.
Consult with QE if disputes arise, regarding acceptability of product.
Assist with the creation of the required Quality documents (e.g. Quality Alerts), for example, identifying ‘good’ and ‘bad’ quality and communicating to relevant operators/lines/Master Assemblers.
3. Communication & Reporting
Complete daily Inspection Report, ensuring all required information is input into the appropriate database (e.g., No seats inspected, No/type defects, defects per pack and 1st pass yield) and communicated to the shop floor.
Attend daily team briefs and provide input, when required.
Review all customer complaints on the internal system.
Communicate ‘quality alerts’ to those involved/affected.
Deal effectively with debates/disputes, aiming to resolve any conflict and ensure quality standards are maintained.
Liaise with a variety of job holders, across a range of departments (e.g. Quality, Engineering, Production etc.) and different levels (shop floor through to senior management) for the purpose of giving/receiving information which is vital for the smooth running of the plant.
4. Information Management & adherence
Check all documentation relating to the quality standards for specific job/customer.
Ensure all specified documentation is adhered to during the completion of inspections. Be able to understand and effectively use all internal documentation (e.g. technical drawings, BOM’s, Weight sheets, Defect sheets, Working Instructions/Standard Work).
Possess knowledge of individual customer requirements and ensure end product adheres to these (e.g. First Article Report, Technical Standard Order).
Check the TSO’s are correct before issuing them to the production lines.
Check stage-card labels, ensuring all information is correct and contains operator stamps.
5. Improvement Activity
Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement within the team.
Participate fully in Improvement teams (e.g. Kaizen), when required.
Assist with the creation of standard work to improve process times.
Assist with the training of new employees/processes (e.g. standard work), when requested.
Key Skills/ Experiences:
Essential Criteria:
Computer literate / IT skills, competent with a range of IT packages including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Have a minimum of 1 years’ assembly/production experience gained in Collins Aerospace or other comparable manufacturing/assembly environment.
Minimum 1 year’s working knowledge of BOM’s / Drawings and manufacturing processes.
Ability to work to quality standards.
Demonstrate enthusiasm, passion and a can do attitude for the role.
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience in a Quality related role.
Ability to demonstrate strong decision making skills.
Flexibility to work Second Shift: Monday until Thursday 14:30 to 00:45 (20% allowance).
Working Hours:
SHIFT PATTERN:
First Shift:
Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:30 (No shift allowance)
Second Shift:
Monday until Thursday 14:30 to 00:45 (20% allowance)
Standard Shift:
Monday to Thursday 07:45 to 16:45, Friday 07:45 to 13:00 (No shift allowance)
