Step into a hands-on IT Systems Engineer role where every system you touch supports real-world missions. As part of the Post Design Support (PDS) team in Malvern, you’ll support, sustain and enhance complex multi-server, multi-client systems for customers in the UK and overseas – while growing your expertise across a broad technology stack.
What You Will Do
- Provide technical support and sustainment for deployed systems, following company processes, procedures and work instructions to help retain AS9100 accreditation.
- Support programmes during the build phase of multi-server, multi-client systems, including hardware assembly, software installation and configuration.
- Plan and execute testing on newly built and upgraded systems, including Integration Testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Deliver office-based technical support to customers via phone and email, with occasional out-of-hours support (evenings/weekends) by prior arrangement.
- Travel within the UK and overseas to deliver, commission, upgrade, diagnose and rectify issues on systems originally built in Malvern, covering technologies such as Microsoft products, Linux distributions, Active Directory, certificates, networking, storage solutions and virtualisation.
- Maintain and manage locally held replicas of customer systems for troubleshooting and upgrade testing.
- Provide technical representation and input at programme Gate reviews, Engineering Review Boards, Design Reviews and proposals, supporting both Programme Management and Business Development.
- Demonstrate software and systems to internal and external customers, and contribute to continuous improvement and lean activities.

- Develop your skills in system testing (Integration, FAT, SAT), troubleshooting and root cause analysis on live systems.
- Strengthen your communication, stakeholder management and customer-facing skills through direct engagement with internal teams and external customers.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Proven experience in an IT Systems Engineer, Systems Administrator or similar technical support role.
- Practical experience building, configuring and supporting multi-server, multi-client systems.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft technologies and at least one Linux distribution, plus core infrastructure concepts such as networking, storage and virtualisation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, including when travelling and supporting customers abroad.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel in the UK and overseas, and to occasionally provide out-of-hours support with prior notice.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the relevant UK security clearances required for the role.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Background working in defence, aerospace or similarly regulated, mission-critical environments.
- Experience supporting customer-facing systems and providing remote technical support.
- Familiarity with formal test phases such as Integration Testing, FAT and SAT.
- Experience participating in technical reviews, Engineering Review Boards or Design Reviews.
