Our client has two new roles within EHS – Operations Manager and Compliance Manager. In each role, you would play a pivotal role in safeguarding the wellbeing of employees, contractors, and the environment. These roles are ideal for Health, Safety & Environment professionals who thrive in diverse environments—whether on construction sites, industrial settings, or in boardroom discussions.

You’ll oversee compliance with UK EHS regulations, lead audits, and drive a culture of continuous improvement. With regular site visits and strategic collaboration, this role is your chance to make a tangible difference in safety and sustainability across a range of exciting projects.

What You’ll Do

Environmental, Health & Safety:

  • Support on company-wide compliance with UK EHS regulations, including CDM 2015, HSE guidelines, and environmental legislation.
  • Develop and implement robust safety initiatives, promoting a culture of awareness and improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Operational Excellence – for the Operations-focused role:

  • Manage environmental compliance measures, such as waste management and CL:AIRE MMP protocols.
  • Implement and maintain Integrated Management Systems to meet ISO standards.
  • Oversee emergency response procedures, including drills and incident investigations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of EHS activities and compliance to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

Compliance Excellence – for the Compliance-focused role:

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to UK EHS regulations.
  • Conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Provide expert guidance on ISO standards and legislative updates.
  • Promote resource conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction programs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting obligations.

Training & Engagement:

  • Deliver impactful training sessions, safety briefings, and workshops for employees at all levels.
  • Inspire a culture of safety, influencing stakeholders across the organisation to prioritise EHS best practices.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with teams to implement cutting-edge EHS initiatives.
  • Monitor and adapt policies to reflect changes in legislation and emerging best practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations to enhance safety performance.

What You Bring

We’re seeking a proactive, confident EHS professional with the ability to inspire, engage, and lead. Your background should include:

  • Qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate (essential); working towards NEBOSH Diploma (preferred). ISO Lead Auditor, or equivalent experience for the Compliance Manager role, as well as in-depth knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and of UK EHS legislation. Ideally membership in IOSH or IEMA for the Compliance role.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years in a practical EHS role in construction, quarrying, manufacturing, or engineering OR EHS Compliance role, ideally in manufacturing, industrial or regulated sectors.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of UK EHS regulations, CDM 2015, and environmental compliance standards for the Operations Manager role. Proven success in implementing and maintaining Integrated Management Systems.
  • Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and influencing abilities. Competent in MS Office and incident reporting systems.
  • Attributes: Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in varied environments and drive continuous improvement.
