We are looking for an experienced Technical Design Manager to lead a small skilled CAD and Drawing team. This is a pivotal role, bridging the gap between client-facing teams and production, ensuring design concepts are accurately translated into safe, manufacturable, and high-quality technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small technical design team, with scope to expand.
  • Oversee creation of GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly diagrams, and installation guides.
  • Ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and compliant with UK regulations.
  • Act as the main technical contact for Projects, Production, and external engineers.
  • Drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the department.
  • Stay up to date with new materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends.
About you:
  • Proven experience in technical design or engineering management.
  • Expert in SolidWorks or AutoCAD (2D essential, 3D beneficial); familiarity with Adobe Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and UK construction regulations (Building Regs, CDM).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable:
  • Engineering or Product Design qualification (HNC/HND/degree).
  • Experience with 3D modelling, ERP/MRP systems, BOM creation, or change control processes.
