We are looking for an experienced Technical Design Lead to join our client's growing business. This is a pivotal role that bridges the gap between the client, the design interface, and what is physically possible to produce with the material remit - for example metals, acrylics. The successful candidate will ensure design concepts are accurately translated into safe, manufacturable, and high-quality technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee creation of GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly diagrams, and installation guides.
- Ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and compliant with UK regulations.
- Technical contact for Projects, Production, and external engineers.
- Stay up to date with new materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends.
About you:
- Proven experience in technical design or engineering design.
- Experience working with design for metal fabrication.
- Expert in SolidWorks or AutoCAD (2D essential, 3D beneficial); familiarity with Adobe Illustrator.
- Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and UK construction regulations (Building Regs, CDM).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Engineering or Product Design qualification (HNC/HND/degree).
- Experience with 3D modelling, ERP/MRP systems, BOM creation, or change control processes.
