We are working with an established and sizeable organisation to recruit a Group Assistant Accountant into its central finance team. This is a newly created role due to business growth/demands and it is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious part-qualified accountant looking to develop their experience within a large and varied finance environment, gaining exposure to group reporting, subsidiaries, joint ventures, statutory accounts, budgeting and audit.
Duties to include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cashflow reporting.
- Preparing statutory accounts and supporting disclosure notes.
- Supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts for subsidiary and joint venture entities.
- Maintaining balance sheet control accounts and reconciliations.
- Managing and reconciling intercompany transactions across the group.
- Supporting the external audit process and preparation of audit schedules.
- Providing supporting information for the Group annual report.
- Assisting with year-end accounting estimates, including provisions and going concern reviews.
- Producing high-quality management accounts packs and supporting the reporting of financial results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifying risks, opportunities and areas for improvement within the management reporting process.
- Supporting the Group Financial Accountant with ad hoc projects and wider finance responsibilities.
The person:
The successful candidate will be studying towards a professional qualification (CIMA or ACCA). Excellent attention to detail and high standards of presentation is essential. The ability to communicate financial information and complex issues clearly to finance and non-finance people is essential. A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work effectively across different functions is required. The ability to maintain high standards and perform effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment is required.
