Our client is a privately owned business with an excellent reputation. Following growth, the organisation is expanding and seeks a Group Financial Controller to work alongside the Group Finance Director. This is a pivotal appointment offering significant breadth of responsibility and influence, with a focus on evolving the finance function to align with the business ambitions and providing operational excellence with strategic support to the leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of the finance function, developing and mentoring a finance team and driving continuous improvement across financial reporting, systems, processes and internal controls.
- Ensure robust governance, deliver accurate and timely financial information, oversee budgeting and forecasting, and provide meaningful insights to support commercial decision-making across the business.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and position the finance function to support the company’s continued growth; strengthen financial disciplines, embed best practice, and build a finance function capable of supporting future ambitions.
Collaboration and leadership
You will work closely with the Group Finance Director, taking ownership of leadership of the finance function and balancing attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger commercial picture. The role is hands-on and requires leading by example, improving how finance operates, and rolling up sleeves when required.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a proven track record in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a growing privately owned, owner-managed or private equity-backed business.
- Strong background in financial systems, controls and process improvement, with excellent technical accounting skills and the ability to lead, develop and inspire a high-performing finance team.
