About Leeds Mind

Leeds Mind is a progressive local mental health charity supporting people to flourish, recover and live independently with their mental health. We work across Leeds and West Yorkshire, delivering services shaped by lived experience and focused on equity, inclusion and prevention.

The role

As Treasurer, you will play a key role in ensuring Leeds Mind’s financial health, sustainability and resilience, working closely with the Chair, CEO and senior team. This is an opportunity to use your financial expertise to support a charity making a real difference in its community.

  • Oversee budgets, accounts and financial reporting
  • Provide assurance on financial controls, reserves and risk
  • Support the Board to understand the organisation’s financial position, financial strategy and implications of strategic decisions
  • Chair the Finance Committee, offering leadership and direction
  • Contribute to discussions around sustainability, funding and growth

About you

We are keen to hear from candidates who bring financial expertise and a collaborative, values-led approach. You are likely to have:

  • A background in finance, accounting or financial management (qualified or by experience)
  • The ability to analyse financial information and explain it clearly to non-financial colleagues
  • An interest in charity finance, governance and stewardship (previous charity experience is welcome but not essential)
  • The confidence to provide constructive challenge while remaining supportive and approachable
  • Commercial or business experience, alongside an understanding of the charity sector, would be particularly valuable.

Time commitment

Approximately 4–8 hours per month, including:

  • Board meetings
  • Finance Committee meetings
  • Ad hoc support

The role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. The appointment is for an initial three-year term.
