Occupational Therapists provide a comprehensive range of services to students whose ability to focus and learn is impacted by physical, developmental, sensory and vision perception challenges. Through diagnostic assessments, consultation and collaboration with students, families and other professionals, Occupational Therapists work to maximize learning opportunities and achievement for students.

What you will do:

  • Work primarily within a classroom environment to support the Response to Intervention framework focused on developing, implementing, and monitoring interventions and strategies that meet the social, emotional, behavioural, and learning needs of students.
  • Provide timely assessment and consultation services for fine and gross motor skill development, visual processing, sensory-motor processing, and self-regulation.
  • Communicate effectively with students and families, to connect them with community service providers as part of an intervention plan.
  • Maintain up-to-date assessments and intervention records.
  • Build the capacity of teachers and administrators using a variety of proactive, innovative, and effective professional development delivery techniques, including in-class modelling, collegial mentoring and coaching, professional reference materials, and presenting at professional learning events at the school and system levels related to topics including self-regulation, motor skills, and transfer-lift-reposition skills.
  • Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Student Services Coordinator.

What will make you successful:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience in pediatric or school-based settings.
  • Certification in Transferring Lifting Repositioning (TLR®) is an asset.
  • Registered and in good standing with Saskatchewan Society of Occupational Therapists.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
  • Current knowledge of best practices, assessment, intervention, and consultation methods to support sensory and visual processing and motor development.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and problem solve.
  • Knowledge of professional standards and ethics of the Saskatchewan Society of Occupational Therapists.
  • Superior case management tracking, documentation, writing and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.

What you can expect:

  • Salary: $44.46 – $60.87 per hour.
  • 100% employer paid health benefits plan.

  • Hours of work are 8 hours per day on school days.
  • Occupational Therapists are not scheduled to work during school vacation periods including the summer break.
  • Daily travel to schools is required using a system fleet vehicle where possible or with mileage paid for use of personal vehicle.
