Working closely with the automation team, the new automation software engineer will support the ongoing development of the FlexLogIC automation control and scheduling software. Do you have experience of programming, testing and database applications? Would you like to work in a high-technology production environment? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

Key tasks:

  • Work closely with the automation team to improve the FlexLogIC software to allow for unmanned running
  • Work closely with the automation team and external contractors on debugging the FlexLogIC software
  • Improve the current FlexLogIC line which could benefit future lines
  • Improve the error handling of the system
  • Develop feedback from sensors and test databases to predict maintenance activities and process changes

Qualifications and training:

  • Degree or post-graduate qualification (or similar in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science)
  • Siemens TIA training course (an advantage)
  • Beckhoff Training course (an advantage)
  • On the job training courses - Microsoft (SQL an advantage)

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of designing PLC code to meet specified functional requirements
  • Experience of creating functional design specification documents (an advantage)
  • Experience of creating automation test specification documents (an advantage)
  • Track record of solving control issues in a high-technology production environment (an advantage)
  • Familiarity with clean room protocols (ideally in semiconductor environment) an advantage
  • Experience of programming and testing Siemens TIA PLCs
  • Experience of programming and testing Siemens WINCC SCADA
  • Experience of programming and testing Beckhoff PLCs (an advantage)
  • Interfacing with real-time database applications to manage critical information
  • Knowledge of SECS/GEM communication protocol (an advantage)
  • Experience with SQL Server (an advantage)
  • Some knowledge of c#.net
