Overview We have a new opportunity for a Lab Technician to join our growing team in Cambridge! Working on a shift basis (7am - 7pm: 4 days, 4 off, 4 days etc) this is a fixed-term contract initially of circa 6 months' duration within our expanding electronics R&D facility. Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Lab Technician will play a key role in supporting the development of our technology and products and will be joining a supportive, collaborative team which has a high impact across the business. We are looking for candidates with a positive attitude, the ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams and experience of PCB repair, soldering and Electronics Test/Assembly. You will receive comprehensive training in the operation of wafer probers, climate chambers, optical microscopes, and related equipment to help you to make maximum impact. You will be joining a fast-paced, busy team during an exciting phase of growth as we scale up and move into high-volume manufacturing. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn and develop during your time here. Please note, we are not able to offer Visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position, so you will need to be able to provide right to work/live in the UK and be able to commute to our site in Cambridge Science Park. We also require a start date of August (or September) 2026, given out timelines with projects/deliverables. Key tasks * Following procedures to operate electronic lab equipment, perform maintenance and assemble prototypes * Following a standard operating procedure to load, unload and run automatic test systems such as semiconductor wafer probers * Soldering, rework, and testing of PCBs (printed circuit boards) * Support engineers in setting up equipment, looking after inventory and troubleshooting issues * Take a proactive approach to resolving issues, tackling problems and learn about new systems * Maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and other lab users Qualifications and training Time-served Qualifications and experience are preferable, as well as an understanding of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) Skills and experience Essential: * PCB experience (soldering, reword, repair, testing) * Experience of soldering components such as 0402, 0603 and 0805 * Demonstrable experience in handling lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators * Exceptional organisational skills * A problem-solving attitude towards tasks * Safety-first mindset * Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team-orientated environment * Excellent timekeeping skills Desirable: * Knowledge in calibration for lab equipment * Knowledge of ESD and Health & Safety best practices including 5S, as well as regulatory requirements * Previous experience troubleshooting issues with electronic test equipment Candidates who do not meet every requirement but feel their skills are a good fit for the role the role are encouraged to apply.
