Overview

Pragmatic Semiconductor is revolutionising semiconductor fabrication with flexible integrated circuit (FlexIC) technology that makes it quick and easy to embed intelligence almost anywhere. Using thin-film transistor (TFT) technology in combination with conventional semiconductor processing equipment, Pragmatic FlexIC Foundry service takes FlexICs from tape-out to delivery in around six weeks, enabling agile iterations, early end-user testing, and an accelerated time to market – at a fraction of the cost of silicon.

We are looking for an additional Lab Technician to support our growing electronics R&D lab in Cambridge. The successful applicant will play a key role in the development of our technology and products. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of semiconductor test. The chosen candidate will receive training in the operation of wafer probers, climate chambers, optical microscopes, to allow them to support the development of Pragmatic’s products and technology.

This position shall operate on a shift system of 7am to 7pm, 4 days on, 4 days off . As such there shall be a 15% shift allowance in addition to all our other exciting benefits!

Key Tasks

  • Following a procedure to use electronic operate lab equipment, perform maintenance, and assemble prototypes.
  • Following a standard operating procedure to load, unload and run automatic test systems such as: Roll to roll RF tag tester, semiconductor wafer probers
  • Soldering, rework, and testing of PCBs (printed circuit boards)
  • Support engineers in setting up equipment, looking after stock and troubleshooting issues
  • Take a proactive approach to resolving issues, tackling problems, and learning about new systems.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade “C” equivalent or better in English, Maths, IT and a Science subject
  • Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) or \”time served\” Qualifications and experience

Desirable Skills and experience

  • Previous experience as an electronics lab technicianwould be advantageous (but NOT essential)
  • Demonstrable experience in handling lab equipment’s such as oscilloscope, power supply, function generator.
  • Experience in hardware handling, rework and soldering
  • Knowledge in calibration for lab equipment’s.
  • Knowledge of ESD and Health & Safety best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting issues with electronic test equipment
  • The ability to follow technical documents electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics is an added advantage
