We have a new opportunity for an exceptional Senior Modelling Engineer to join our Technology function! Reporting to the Senior Manager - Platform Characterisation and part of a dynamic and supportive Characterisation team, this is a key role with responsibility for developing and maintaining compact models for both transistors and passive components (models which form an important part of our PDK releases).
Ideally you will have a background in compact model development, electronic test and semiconductor device physics. Verilog-A and SPICE experience would be highly beneficial. You will also ideally have the ability to analyse large datasets using programmatic approaches (Python, R, MATLAB etc). We are looking for candidates who are really keen to put their own stamp on the role, and who will thrive on having true ownership. This role will be based in Cambridge, at our vibrant and busy headquarters. We are able to offer Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance for the successful candidate.
Key tasks- Develop methods for expressing device level electrical performance to internal teams and external customers through documentation, models, tools
- Work with the test development and manufacturing test teams to generate wafer level data
- Efficient and timely analysis of large datasets, providing summaries highlighting key trends and linking these trends to physical mechanisms
- Working within the “New Technology Introduction” process to define and execute platform characterisation programs to validate the device level electrical performance of individual thin film transistors and similar components of a new technology platform
- Interface between Emerging Technology and Operations teams to take nascent technology from initial understanding through to release for volume manufacture
Candidates will ideally be qualified to degree level (e.g. Maths, Physics, Engineering) or will possess equivalent experience. Education to PhD level in an applicable field would be advantageous, but not essential.
Skills and experience- Significant experience in a device-level characterisation role (or a role which has entailed these responsibilities)
- Significant Semiconductor Device Physics knowledge
- Statistical data analysis techniques using tools such as Python, R, MATLAB etc
- Compact model development for transistors and passive components
- Demonstrable experience of fitting experimental data to extract compact model parameters for transistors
- Ability to produce technical reports and communicate effectively with key stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g. IC Design, Process Integration, Test and Validation)
- Experience working with silicon foundry PDK’s, compact models
- Knowledge of novel semiconductor materials and electrical properties
- Hands-on experience of wafer-level electrical measurement
Candidates who do not meet every requirement but feel their skills are a good fit for the role are encouraged to apply.
