About Us

Pragmatic Consultancy helps businesses turn complex requirements in compliance, sustainability, governance and operational improvement into practical ways of working. Our work spans the UK energy sector, responsible business, training and online learning. We have strong expertise, established relationships and valuable services. As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone to help bring our services, marketing platforms and lead generation together into one clear, consistent approach. This is an opportunity to build something, not simply maintain it.

The Opportunity

The role may suit an experienced marketer who has worked in a corporate, agency or professional services environment and is now looking for greater flexibility, purpose and ownership. You may be returning after a career break, building a portfolio career or looking to apply established experience within a smaller business where your contribution is visible. You will be expected to bring informed recommendations, organise ideas into a practical plan and take responsibility for implementation. Pragmatic will retain responsibility for technical sales discussions, pricing, complex proposals and closing significant consultancy work. You'll help turn a respected consultancy into a recognised brand. You'll have the freedom to try new ideas, influence how we market ourselves and see the direct impact of your work on the growth of the business.

Purpose of the Role

This is a hands-on role where you'll shape the strategy, create the content and measure the results that clearly presents what Pragmatic offers, builds a consistent presence across appropriate channels, generates and nurtures relevant leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build our Brand: Help define and package our consultancy, sustainability and training services. Develop marketing campaigns that connect the right audience with the right offer. Recommend how LinkedIn, Kartra, email, webinars and our website work together.
  • Create and manage content: Create engaging LinkedIn and other channels content, blogs, newsletters and case studies. Turn meetings, workshops and client work into useful content. Keep our website, courses and marketing materials up to date. Manage community engagement across agreed channels.
  • Grow our Business: Create campaigns that generate enquiries. Build downloadable resources, webinars and lead magnets. Nurture leads and keep our pipeline organised. Support proposals and marketing material that converts interest into work. Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements based on results.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first six months, the successful person will have:

  • Pragmatic has a clear and consistent marketing presence.
  • Qualified enquiries are being generated consistently through multiple channels.
  • A three-month rolling marketing plan is in place and being delivered consistently.
  • We understand which marketing activities generate the greatest commercial value.

Skills and Attributes

Essential: The role requires experience in marketing or communications, excellent written communication, experience creating digital content, commercial awareness and an interest in business growth, confidence managing multiple projects independently, and experience using AI tools to improve productivity and content creation. We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, turning ideas into action and making things happen. You'll be comfortable working independently, asking questions, challenging the status quo and suggesting better ways of doing things. You don't need to know everything on day one, but you should enjoy learning, solving problems and seeing the commercial impact of your work.

Desirable: The following would be helpful but can be developed: Experience in consultancy, professional services, energy, sustainability, compliance or another regulated sector. Awareness of B Corp, responsible business or climate-related themes.

Development and Progression

As Pragmatic grows, this role has the opportunity to grow with it. You'll have the chance to take increasing ownership of our marketing strategy, campaigns, partnerships and brand development, with the potential to develop into a wider leadership role as the business expands.

Working Arrangements

25 hours per week, with the working pattern agreed with the successful candidate. Home based within the UK. Salary of £20,000 to £23,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role will report to the Director. Formal six-month review, with future progression or performance-related reward subject to contribution and business affordability. Performance will be assessed through quality, consistency, qualified opportunities and pipeline contribution, not simply the number of posts produced.

Our Values

At Pragmatic Consultancy, we believe good business should create positive outcomes for people, communities and the planet. As a Certified B Corporation and Living Wage Employer, we're committed to doing business responsibly. We value integrity, curiosity, reliability and respect. We encourage volunteering, continuous learning and finding practical ways to reduce our environmental impact. We're looking for someone who shares those values and wants to help us build a business that makes a difference.

JEDI Commitment

Pragmatic Consultancy Limited is committed to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. The role will be developed in a way that recognises different working styles, confidence levels, communication preferences, learning needs and personal circumstances. The employee will be supported to develop at an appropriate pace, with expectations discussed clearly and reviewed regularly. The business will seek to provide fair access to development opportunities while also being clear about the commercial and operational needs of the role.

Review

This job description is intended to support role clarity and development. It may be reviewed as the role develops, business needs change, or the employee's skills, interests and contribution become clearer.
