The Role
As a Senior Relationship Manager at Praetura, you will play a key role in managing a portfolio of asset-based lending and invoice finance clients, delivering excellent client service while ensuring robust risk management throughout the client lifecycle.
Working closely with the Relationship Director and wider Praetura team, you will build strong, trusted relationships with clients, support new business opportunities and use your commercial and financial expertise to identify trends, manage risk and drive positive outcomes across your portfolio.
We’re looking for somebody who can combine strong relationship management with sound commercial judgement, who is confident making decisions and influencing others, and who will help share best practice and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
Key aspects of the role include
- To ensure the security and profitability of Praetura through efficient and effective monitoring of an allocated portfolio of asset-based lending and invoice finance clients, analysing key trends and taking appropriate action where required
- To maintain excellent standards of client service and establish strong, professional and effective relationships across the allocated portfolio
- To ensure the transition from prospect to client is managed effectively alongside the sales and underwriting teams, ensuring an accurate and positive experience for new clients
- To support new business activity through Introducer and Prospect visits, supporting the sales team and contributing to effective, high-quality underwriting
- To ensure the recovery of Praetura advances in the event of client failure, acting speedily and professionally through recovery of the sales ledger and other security where required, liaising with panel solicitors and insolvency practitioners as appropriate
- To represent the interests of Praetura both internally and externally, providing flexible support across the business as required
- To ensure appropriate practices and procedures are followed to protect the security of the portfolio and that security is maintained at all times within Praetura systems
- To agree appropriate operational and procedural arrangements with clients within Praetura's service offering parameters, setting operational and facility targets and conditions where appropriate
- To monitor, review and approve funding within delegated authority levels and agreed parameters, recommending changes where appropriate
- To review client performance regularly, including health checks and client reviews, identifying any remedial action required and ensuring agreed actions are followed through
- To ensure best practice is shared and implemented across Praetura, contributing ideas and expertise to support continuous improvement
- To use strong financial awareness and analysis of management information and client projections to support sound commercial and risk-based decision making
- To build effective relationships across Praetura and act as a positive influence, sharing knowledge, ideas and successes with colleagues
Experience and Skills
- Experience in a similar Relationship Management role within commercial finance, invoice finance or asset-based lending
- Strong financial awareness, with the ability to analyse management information, financial performance and client projections
- Strong understanding of risk management and the ability to exercise sound commercial judgement
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a strong customer service focus
- Confident, decisive and influential, with the ability to make well-informed decisions and challenge where appropriate
- Commercially aware with strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented approach
- Ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and support colleagues through sharing knowledge and best practice
- Strong knowledge of Praetura and Group products, with the ability to identify cross-selling opportunities
- Highly organised, with strong planning, time management and attention to detail
- Assertive, tenacious and resilient, with the ability to manage challenging situations professionally
- Ability to lead by example and demonstrate a collaborative approach to achieving team and business objectives
