We’re supporting a fast-growing UAV and advanced aerospace engineering team working at the cutting edge of autonomous flight systems. They’re now looking for an Avionics Engineer to take ownership of avionics development across complex UAV programmes – from early design through to flight-ready systems.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll sit at the intersection of electronics, embedded software, and flight control systems, helping shape next-generation airborne platforms.
The RoleYou’ll play a key part in delivering avionics systems across multiple programmes, working closely with engineering leadership and a multidisciplinary team. Expect a mix of:
- System design and development
- Hands-on prototyping and testing
- Embedded software and hardware integration
- Technical ownership across UAV avionics systems
- Leading avionics development across the full lifecycle (design → test → prototype → production readiness)
- Working on UAV flight control and embedded systems (ArduPilot / CubePilot highly desirable)
- Developing and debugging embedded C/C++ systems in RTOS environments
- Supporting system integration across electronics, software, and flight systems
- Working hands-on with hardware (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, test equipment)
- Ensuring robust, safe, and compliant engineering delivery
- Contributing to continuous improvement across engineering processes
- Background in Engineering (Electrical, Aerospace, Robotics, Mechanical or similar)
- Experience in UAV, avionics, embedded systems, or similar environments
- Strong embedded C/C++ experience
- RTOS experience and understanding of real-time systems
- Familiarity with ArduPilot / CubePilot (strong advantage)
- Understanding of flight control systems and PID tuning
- Electronics experience (analogue + digital)
- Ability to read schematics and debug hardware/software systems
- Experience working with engineering tools and protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-project environments
- Hands-on and solutions-focused mindset
- Comfortable switching between projects and priorities
- Strong collaborator who enjoys working across disciplines
- Proactive, practical, and delivery-focused
