The Opportunity: Scale a Mission-Driven Startup with Corporate Backing
Are you a commercial leader who believes that profit and planet can, and should work in harmony? We are representing the consulting arm of a prominent Wildlife Charity that has spent the last four years building a solid reputation and a dedicated team of eight specialists. Now, they are ready to transition from a successful "internal project" to a standalone, commercially powerhouse business.
Your primary focus is growth. While the technical team delivers exceptional work in ecology surveys, biodiversity strategy, and farmer advice, they need a commercial navigator to steer the ship.
- Ecology Surveys: Streamlining and growing high-demand services (e.g., protected species surveys).
- Biodiversity Strategy: Capitalising on the growing "Natural Capital" market, working with major landowners on large-scale restoration.
- Land & Farmer Advice: Strengthening the bridge between conservation and agriculture, providing actionable insights for sustainable land management.
Key Objectives:
- Commercial Evolution: Move from a "charity project" mindset to a "high-performance consultancy" engine, securing repeat business and high-value referrals.
- Market Capture: Seize massive regional infrastructure opportunities within the three counties.
- Operational Leadership: Mentor a highly technical, expert team of ecologists, improving client communication and professionalising marketing efforts.
- Strategic Independence: Build the confidence of the Board of Trustees to successfully separate the consultancy into its own commercial entity.
The Ideal Profile:
The Managing Director we are looking for sits at the intersection of business acumen and environmental passion. You aren’t just a manager; you are a builder.
- The Scaler: You have a proven track record of growing a professional services or consulting firm. You know how to move from "founder-led" sales to a repeatable, scalable engine.
- The Sector Expert: You understand (or have a deep affinity for) UK planning laws, ecology, land management, and biodiversity net gain. You can speak the language of both a developer and a conservationist.
- The Connector: You have a "low-ego, high-impact" style. You are approachable, energetic, and capable of earning the trust of a highly technical team of ecologists.
- The Professionalised: You know what "good" looks like in client management and marketing, and you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to implement better processes.
Are You Ready to Lead the Charge? If you are ready to use your strategic expertise to protect local wildlife and create a "wilder" future for generations to come, we would love to start a confidential conversation.
